WHY OSUN MUST NOW UNITE AND ENSURE GOVERNOR ADELEKE’s PROGRESS*

By Kazeem Adekunle Tiamiyu

Election has come and gone in Osun State. The ballots have been counted;winners have emerged and the dust of campaign rhetoric is gradually settling. But while politics is seasonal, governance is constant.

The real work — the work of building schools, paying salaries, fixing roads, and improving the quality of life for 4.7 million Osun people — has only just begun.

It is in this light that all stakeholders, irrespective of party, class, or creed, must now rally around the government of the day led by *His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke* must ensure the success of his administration.

*A GOVERNMENT FOCUSED ON WELFARE AND PEOPLE*

There is no doubt that since assumption of office, Governor Adeleke has made deliberate efforts to reposition Osun around the welfare of its people.

From prompt attention of workers’ welfare and payment of salary arrears, to visible interventions in healthcare, education, and other social amenities, the administration has set a tone that resonates with the common man. Markets are wearing a new look, rural roads are receiving attention, and the “Imole” mantra has become synonymous with a government that says it is listening.

In a state where civil servants form the backbone of public service delivery, putting workers first is not just welfare. It is economic policy. A paid worker delivers, a motivated teacher teaches better, and a healthy citizen is definitely a productive citizen.

*OSUN IS BIGGER THAN PARTY POLITICS*

Osun State belongs to all of us. Whether you voted APC, PDP-Accord, ADC, or stayed at home, we are all under one roof called Osun. Our children attend the same schools. Our mothers buy from the same markets. Our artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs share the same economic space.

That is why it is now imperative that we move beyond the bitterness of electioneering. Politicians have played their parts. The people of Osun have also spoken loudly: they want continuity, stability, and development.

To keep fighting the last election is to mortgage the future of the next generation.

*A CALL FOR COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY*

Nation building is not the job of the governor alone. It is a collective contract.

*To Civil Servants*: This is the time for greater dedication, professionalism, and patriotism. The bureaucracy must match the political will with efficiency. Files must move, services must improve, and corruption must have no hiding place.

*To Artisans and the Business Community*: Osun’s economy grows when you thrive. Be ready to key into government initiatives, pay your taxes, and uphold quality. A greater Osun will be built in our markets, workshops, and factories.

*To Politicians*: Victory should not be seen as an opportunity for exclusion or “this is our time” politics. It should be seen as an opportunity for service. Let us mentor young people, attract development to our constituencies, and hold government accountable without sabotage.

*To Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, and Civil Society organisations, you remain the conscience of the state. Continue to mediate, counsel, and mobilize your people towards peace and development.

I, for my part, commit to contributing my own quota towards a better Osun. We must all do the same.

*THE GOVERNOR’S RESPONSIBILITY: LEADERSHIP WITHOUT BIAS*

With the mandate now secured, Mr. Governor stands as the leader of Osun — not just of PDP, not just of PDP-Accord, but of all Osun people.

It is expected that in taking decisions, the administration will be guided by competence over sentiment, and performance over patronage. Technocrats (men and women) of proven capacity should be given the space to deliver results.

Good governance thrives where merit is rewarded. If Osun must compete in 2027 and beyond, we need the best hands in finance, infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, and security — regardless of where they stood during the election.

That is how we move from “what was met” to “what will be left behind.”

*WHY UNITY MATTERS FOR OSUN’S ECONOMY AND SOCIAL LIFE*

When government, civil service, private sector, and citizens work in the same direction, three things happen: the economy grows ;social services improve; and investor confidence rises.

A united Osun will attract more federal projects. It will negotiate better with Abuja. It will also present a stronger voice in national politics ahead of the January 2027 presidential election. States that speak with one voice get more attention.

Division, on the other hand, only stalls projects and deepens hardship.

*CONCLUSION: LET US BUILD THE OSUN WE WANT*

The election is over. The governance has begun.

Let us forget the campaign insults and embrace a new social contract: _Government delivers, citizens support, and all of us monitor._

Osun deserves to be better than we met it. Our roads should be better. Our schools should be better. Our hospitals should be better. And our unity should be stronger.

This is not a PDP project. This is not an APC or ADC project. This is an Osun project.

As we look ahead, let every sector play its role. Let every citizen ask: “What is my contribution?”

*Long Live Osun State*

*Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria*
