Fountain University Produces First Professor of Mass Communication

Fountain University, Osogbo has recorded another historic academic milestone with the elevation of *Dr. Raheemat Adeniran* to the rank of Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism.
Prof. Adeniran, who is presently the Acting Dean, College of Management and Social Sciences (COMAS), has now become the first Professor of Mass Communication* in the history of Fountain University, Osogbo.
Her elevation to the professorial chair was approved by the Governing Council of the University after fulfilling all rigorous academic requirements of teaching, research, publications and community service.
This feat is a landmark achievement for Fountain University, established by the Nasrul-Lahi-Il-Fatih Society (NASFAT), as it continues to assert itself as a centre of academic excellence in Nigeria.
Prof. Raheemat Adeniran is a distinguished scholar of Journalism and Media Studies. Her research interests span Journalism Practice, Political Communication, Gender and Media Studies, and Development Communication.
She has to her credit numerous scholarly publications in reputable national and international journals and has supervised and mentored hundreds of Mass Communication graduates who are today making waves in the Nigerian media industry and beyond.
Known for her humility, diligence and motherly guidance to students, Prof. Adeniran is regarded as a role model to many young academics, especially female scholars.
A top management source in the University described her promotion as “a well-deserved reward for years of hard work, consistency and scholarship. She is a pride to Fountain University.”
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, is expected to formally decorate the new Professor in the coming days.
The entire Mass Communication family and the University community have been thrown into jubilation over the historic promotion.
