17 Bag First Class As Olalere Olabisi Hadijat Emerges Overall Best Graduating Student At Fountain University Convocation

All roads led to Fountain University, Osogbo for her 12th Convocation Ceremony for the 2021/2022 on Saturday 14th January 2022.
The event which was graced by personalities from different walks of life also celebrated the latest graduands of the great institution.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Amidu Olalekan Sanni, said “today is historic for a number of reasons, first, it is the highest point in our week long series of activities marking the 12th edition of Convocation in the history of our University.
For the 2021/2022 session, a total of 240 graduating students will be conferred with their first degrees in various disciplines and 19 graduands at the Postgraduate level, precisely Master’s Degrees will be awarded their certificates.
“The breakdown is as follows for the first degree graduands: 17 in First Class, 88 in Second Class Upper, 107 in Second Lower and 28 in third Class” he added.
The height of the colourful celebration was the pronouncement of Olalere Olabisi Hadijat as
overall Best Graduating Student, with a CGPA of 4.76 in Industrial and Environmental Chemistry.
As a result of her outstanding excellence, the 21 year old bagged 11 Awards during the convocation which included the Chancellor’s Prize for the most Outstanding Student of the year, Pro Chancellor’s prize, Outstanding Student of the year in the Natural and Applied Sciences , Best Graduating Student in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, Best Graduating Student in the Department of Chemical Sciences (Industrial/Environmental Chemistry), Alumni Prize for the Overall Best Graduating Student in 2021/2022, Prof. Nurudeen Nimbe Adedipe prize Award for the Best Graduating Student, Late Engr. (Mrs) Risikat Oyebisi Wahab Surajudeen (seke) Prize Award for the Overall Best Graduating Student, Late Emeritus Prof. Lateef Akinola Salako’s Prize Award for the Best Overall Student, Late Engr.( Mrs) Risikat Oyebisi Wahab Surajudeen ( seke) Prize Award for the Best Graduating Student in the
College of Natural & Applied Sciences, Chemistry Unit Prize Award for the Best Graduating Student in Industrial and Environmental Chemistry and Alhaja Arike Motilade Adegoke Prize award for the Best Graduating Student in Industrial Chemistry.
Reacting, Olalere Olabisi Hadijat who spoke
on behalf of all the graduating students thanked the university for impacting their lives positively.
” Over the past four years, we have all faced challenges, gone through different tough times and courses, walked, and worked beyond our limits, sacrificed so much to earn our degrees, learned new things physically and mentally, morally, religiously that will stay with us for a lifetime.
” When I reminisce on my experience while at Fountain University, I can sincerely conclude that there’s no better Institution with such fantastic staff that have helped students in achieving their goals,having inspired and shaped us into what we are today. When we reflect on the past and realise how far we have come, I think we can all agree that the experience, guidance and supervision have helped us develop into responsible adults. All these would not have been possible without this prestigious University. We are grateful!
Meanwhile, the father of Hadijat Olabisi, Mr. Tunde Olalere, a Deputy Director at the Lagos Ministry of Information and the Secretary of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, describe the accolades as well deserved.
” I am so thankful to Allah for blessing me with such a daughter. She’s so hardworking and always like to read even while at home. I am happy because she has witnessed the reward of her hard work, having toiled all night.
Furthermore, four notable Nigerians were also awarded honorary degrees at the convocation ceremony. They are: Alhaji Sulaiman Alao Eniafelamo, a community Leader and Head of the Clan of Isale Osun, Osogbo. He was awarded a Doctorate degree in Sociology, Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao, the Chief of Air Staff of the Nigerian Air Force, was awarded a Doctorate degree in Public Administration.
Vice Admiral Jubrila Ayinla Rtd( GCON), the immediate past Pro – Chancellor & Chairman of Council also got Honorary doctorate degree in Sciences and Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State who was honoured with a Doctorate degree in Public Administration.
The Alake of Egba land, Vice chancellors of Obafemi Awolowo University, Bowen University, University of Ibadan, and many more were in attendance.
