Celebrating a Colossus: Mr. Abass Okandeji -a Teacher of Note, a Journalist per Excellence

There are lecturers, and there are Legends. Today, we celebrate a legend.
On behalf of the entire *400 Level Conversion Students, Department of Mass Communication, Fountain University, Osogbo*, we roll out the drums to celebrate a rare gem, an academic icon, a media guru and a father to all – *MR. ABASS OKANDEJI*, as he adds another glorious year.
If you are looking for the perfect definition of a *good and nice man*, look no further than Mr. Okandeji. He is a man of impeccable honour, uncommon humility, profound respect, infectious joviality, and boundless kindness. A man whose heart is pure gold.
Mr. Okandeji is not just a lecturer who comes to class to teach; he is a mentor who associates, connects and bonds with his students both within the four walls of the classroom and far outside it. He listens, he advises, he corrects with love, and he inspires with passion.
His method of teaching is simply top-notch, outstanding, captivating and highly impactful. He breaks down the complexities of Mass Communication with such simplicity and practical insight that even the most difficult topic becomes enjoyable. He doesn’t just teach journalism; he breathes journalism.
Indeed, Mr. Okandeji is a *teacher of note* and a *journalist per excellence* – a distinguished, seasoned, highly respected and versatile professional whose wealth of experience in the media industry is immeasurable.
Beyond Fountain University, his contributions to journalism in Osun State and beyond are monumental. As the *Coordinator of the University of Maiduguri Centre in Osun State through the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)*, he has selflessly tutored, mentored, groomed and moulded a countless number of students into becoming ethical, fearless, professional and better journalists who are now shining across Osun State and its environs.
What marvels us most is his incredible sacrifice and dedication. Against his own tight schedule and personal comfort, he would go out of his way, find time, create time, and make time to be in class for us. He treats us not as mere students, but as responsible adults, as colleagues, as his own children – with utmost dignity, courtesy, patience and genuine love.
Sir, today we celebrate your brilliance, your humility, your discipline, your fatherly love, your generosity and your unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
Our prayer for you on this special day:
May Almighty Allah continue to preserve you, bless you with sound health, long life, abundant wisdom, and overflowing joy. May your pen never run dry, may your knowledge never diminish, and may you continue to soar higher and higher in your noble profession. Your labour of love over us will never be forgotten.
You are cherished, you are valued, you are loved, Sir.
*Happy Birthday to an extraordinary teacher, a quintessential journalist, a humble coordinator, and a wonderful human being!*
