The ancient town of Ejigbo on Thursday sent a strong warning to criminal elements, miscreants and all those threatening its peace, declaring that acts of harassment, extortion and criminality will no longer be tolerated.

The declaration was made during a crucial security engagement held at Gbamase, the heart of the town, and later at the Ogiyan Palace. The meeting was championed by youths under the umbrella of the *Ejigbo Youth Forum*.

The town hall-style meeting drew key security stakeholders including *DCP Alexandra Gbenga Asagade; CSP Debo Akanmu, Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ejigbo; Pa John Okedoye, Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ejigbo; AK Martins, Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ejigbo*, and other sister security agencies and local security outfits.

Addressing the gathering, *Pa John Okedoye* cautioned youths against allowing bravery to degenerate into criminality. While noting that courage is not a vice in young people, he warned that using it to intimidate or harm others would be met with the full weight of community and law.

He cited a recent incident in Oyo State where youths, allegedly avenging a damaged phone, committed a heinous crime that claimed an entire family of six, urging Ejigbo youths to remember that they are the leaders of tomorrow.

In his remarks, *DCP Alexandra Gbenga Asagade* expressed concern over rising criminal activities and disclosed that his own residence had been burgled three times. He called on political leaders and influential individuals to stop shielding criminals under political patronage, warning that no criminal should be made indispensable in the community.

DCP Asagade pledged his support for the Ejigbo security architecture and assured of close collaboration with the DPO and other stakeholders.

On his part, *CSP Debo Akanmu* issued a firm directive that miscreants must not be allowed to roam the streets, disrupt businesses or extort residents, warning that anyone caught would face the full force of the law.

Giving royal backing to the resolutions, the *Ogiyan-in-Council*, through the *Generalissimo of Ejigbo Land, Chief Osolo of Ejigbo*, who spoke on behalf of *HRM Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II, JP, MFR, the Ogiyan of Ejigbo Land*, affirmed the palace’s commitment to peace and security.

The meeting ended with a renewed pact among youths, traditional institution, security agencies and residents to collectively safeguard Ejigbo and deny criminal elements any operating space.
