PCRC National Chairman Pays Courtesy Visit to Hon. Kayode Fuad Laguda

As part of sustained efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and critical stakeholders in nation-building, the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, yesterday led a high-powered delegation on a courtesy visit to the National Assembly, Abuja, where they met with Hon. Kayode Fuad Laguda, Member of the House of Representatives and Chairman, House Committee on Polytechnic Institutions.*

The visit was aimed at fostering a strategic partnership with the National Assembly on the implementation and expansion of the PCRC Safe School Club Initiative, a programme designed to promote safety, security awareness, moral values, and peaceful coexistence within schools across Nigeria.

Speaking during the meeting, the PCRC National Chairman emphasized that the safety and well-being of Nigerian schoolchildren remain a collective responsibility that requires the active involvement of government institutions, legislators, security agencies, educational stakeholders, parents, and communities. He noted that the Safe School Club Initiative is a proactive intervention focused on equipping students with the knowledge and values needed to prevent crime, resist social vices, and contribute positively to national development.

Alhaji Olaniyan further explained that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that schools remain safe learning environments where children can pursue their education without fear. He appealed to Hon. Laguda to lend his legislative support and influence towards the successful implementation of the programme across educational institutions in the country.

In his response, Hon. Kayode Fuad Laguda warmly welcomed the PCRC delegation and commended the leadership of the organisation for initiating programmes that directly contribute to national peace, youth development, and community security. He described the Safe School Club Initiative as a timely and forward-looking intervention capable of shaping responsible future leaders and strengthening the culture of safety within educational institutions.

The lawmaker assured the delegation of his full support for the initiative, pledging to collaborate with the PCRC in advancing programmes that will benefit Nigerian students and the educational sector. He reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives that promote security, discipline, quality education, and national development, expressing confidence that the partnership would yield positive and lasting impacts.

The National Chairman expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Laguda for his warm reception, encouraging words, and commitment to the Safe School Club Initiative. He reiterated the PCRC’s resolve to continue building strategic partnerships with public office holders and relevant institutions in support of community policing, crime prevention, youth empowerment, and sustainable national development.
