Governor Adeleke Wins 19 Local Government Areas out of 30 in the State to Emerge as Winner

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, of the Accord Party, has won 19 Local Government Areas out of the 30 in the state
while his close rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, secured 11 LGs in the Saturday governorship election.
The result was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning Officer, Prof Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, who is also the Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Sunday morning.

In the result declared,Adeleke won the election after polling 511,067 votes against his opponent, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who polled 444,815 votes.
Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, scored 17,180 votes coming third on the ballot.
With this victory, Ademola Adeleke wins the mandate of the Osun electorates for a second term.
15 political parties contested in the election, with the three top contenders in the Accord, APC and the ADC.
