Breakthrough: Oke Gada , EDE Primary Health Centre Records First Successful CS

....Osun's Health Reform Saves Mother and Baby.

The Primary Health Centre, Oke Gada, Ede has recorded a major milestone with the successful conduct of its first-ever emergency Caesarean Section*.

 

The surgery, carried out on Friday, August 28, 2026 at about 2:30 p.m. resulted in the safe delivery of a healthy 3.5kg baby boy. Both mother and child are in good condition.

 

The emergency procedure was led by Dr. Ashafa Musa and supported by Sanni Mudasiru and Student Intern, Mariam Olanbiwonninu

The team’s swift and professional response ensured a safe outcome during a critical moment.

 

The mother,Mrs. Adeniyi Rukayat*, registered for antenatal care at the PHC in May 2026 and had been managed at the facility throughout her pregnancy. A vaginal delivery was initially anticipated.

 

When complications arose requiring urgent surgical intervention, the medical team acted immediately to perform the C-Section.

 

The baby’s father, Mr. Adeniyi Kehinde, expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Musa and the entire team for their diligence, commitment,and professionalism

 

Mr. Adeniyi Kehinde also commended the Osun State Government under Governor Ademola Adeleke for upgrading Primary Health Centres across the state.

 

“A procedure of this nature would have cost us hundreds of thousands of naira in a private hospital. We are grateful that my wife received this quality service free of charge here at the PHC,”_ he said.

 

 

Reacting to the development, the Executive Secretary of Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Sina Igbalaye, who visited the facility after the operation, praised Dr. Ashafa Musa, Sanni Mudasiru, Mariam Olanbiwonninu and other health officials for their dedication to duty.

 

Dr. Igbalaye also appreciated Governor Adeleke for the continued support, recent recruitment of health workers, and the upgrading of PHCs statewide.

 

_“The successful emergency Caesarean Section at PHC Oke Gada, Ede, is further proof that this administration’s investment in primary healthcare is delivering results and bringing quality care closer to our people,”_ he stated.

 

He reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to sustaining affordable, effective and accessible healthcare, especially for women and children across Osun State.

 

The successful surgery at Oke Gada PHC marks a new dawn for primary healthcare in Ede.
