Osun FPS Charges leaders to Emulate Christ

The Osun State Council of the Fourth -Estate Professional Society (FPS)has charged Nigerian leaders to emulate Jesus Christ by living a sacrificial life with a view to making life more worth living for the Nigerian masses.
The Council of journalists in the State of the Living Spring gave this charge in its Easter message to christians on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration marking the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ who sacrificed his life for the salvation of mankind.
In the message signed by Comrades Adedapo Owolabi and Adeoye Adegbohungbe, Chairman and Secretary respectively and made available to newsmen in Osogbo the Osun State capital, the body of pen professionals urged political, religious and community leaders in the country to follow the shining example of Jesus Christ the leader of the Christian faith who did nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility counted others better than himself.
The message read in parts,”Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.”
The sacrificial life of Christ, the message added
made God to highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth, and had also given mankind hope of eternal life.
The message particularly admonished political leaders to live sacrificial life and always consider the interests of the masses when it comes to governmental policies and programmes.
While the message felicitated Christians all over the world on this year’s Easter celebration,it however called for caution saying that they should dine and wine responsibly and always reflect on the lessons of love, humility and hope which Easter teaches us with a view to making our society to be a better place to live in.
