“Guide Against Vandalisation of Local Government Properties” Auditor General Warns Stakeholders.

The Auditor General for Local Government in Osun State,Alhaji Ishaq Oyewole Awotunde has sent warnings to all major stakeholders in the Local government service to ensure that all government medical facilities recently rehabilitated by the state Governor ,Senator Ademola Adeleke across all the councils in the state are well protected against vandalism

Alhaji Awotunde stated this today while holding a crucial meeting with representatives of Internal Auditors,Salary officers, Executive Secretaries of Medical Officers of Health and forum of Community Development and Information in his office.

Also at the meeting were principal officers from the office of the Auditor General including zonal officers.

He frowned at the rate of vandalism of health facilities by some hoodlums which has created a big setback on the mission and vision of the state Government programme.

He further directed Internal Auditors to begin regular inspection of government facilities and ensure they are well protected.

Salary officers were therefore asked to monitor both statutory and non statutory deductions of individual staff in tandem with financial regulations.

Auditor General for Local Government also warned salary officers to ensure that officers who have absconded from service are exposed and dealt with within the ambit of the law.

“You will be held responsible if ghost workers are discovered in your local Government ” he added.

He equally warned them to monitor all government assets in their domains.

Internal Auditors were henceforth charged to ensure proper issuance of letters of allocation on the use of official vehicles to government officials in various councils to prevent its abuse

While reacting,The Forum Chairman of Secretaries of Local Government Health Authority ,Dr Shaibu Adenrele Olaoye promised a better improvement of medical services at the grassroots.

Representative of Internal Auditors,Comrade Obafemi David sought for harmonious working relationship among internal Auditors, salary officers and primary health care staff.

The state secretary of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees( NULGE)Mr Rafiu Hotonu who represented the State President of the Union,Dr Nathaniel Ogungbangbe appreciated the Auditor General for calling such meeting and promised that the union will ensure that the purpose of the meeting is not defeated.
