Osun LGSC Chairman Expresses Confidence in Local Government Information Officers

The Chairman Osun state Local Government Service Commission,Hon Tunji Adeleke has expressed confidence on the performance of Local Government Information Officers as the new department of information kicks off.
Hon Adeleke made this remark while receiving the state chairman of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations(NIPR),Mr Ademola Adesoji in his office.
He described the move by the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for the creation of the department as a giant stride to promote grassroots governance.
The Permanent Secretary,Local Government Service Commission,Mrs Modupe Irelewuyi charged representatives of information officers to rise to the present challenges and reciprocate the good gesture of the state government for creating the new department of Information Youth Sports and Culture in the Local Government Service of Osun State.
While responding Mr Adesoji Ademola praised the Management of the commission and the state government for creating an enabling environment for information officers to perform their duties without fear or intimidation.
He emphasized that, by law, membership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations is compulsory for anyone serving in this Directorate.
“This ensures compliance with professional standards and ethics in public relations practice.’ he added.
The Chairman Forum of Local Government Information Officers,Comrade Ibitoye Jamiu expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the bold step taken by the current Administration in the state for creation of the department and recent approval to attend National Conference of information officers in Abuja in November.
He also pointed out that several attempts had been made in the past.to facilitate the creation until the current state house of Assembly passed the bill and eventually assented to by Governor Adeleke in August 18
He therefore assured government that they would bring their professional expertise to bear during the course of their work in their various local Government.
