Governor Adeleke Reassures Local Government Workers of Continuous Welfarism.

....as capacity building workshop kicks off in Topo,Badagrry.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has re assured Local Government Workers in the state his readiness to always focus on human capacity development.

The State Governor stated this while declaring open a three day Seminar organised by the state Government for Local Government Workers at ASCON Village Topo Badagrry,Lagos State.

The seminar with the theme BUILDING EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP AND STRONG LABOUR RELATIONS FOR OPTIMAL PRODUCTIVITY. which was held between. 7th and 9th October attracted Local government workers across all the 30 Local Governments and the Area. Office of the state.

The Governor who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and chieftaincy Affairs,.Barrister Dosu Babatunde reiterated the commitment of the state Government to place workers welfare high.

The Permanent Secretary ,Local Government Service Commission,Mrs Modupe Irelewuyi who was represented by Mr Sonibare Sola, Director, Administration, Training and Supplies charged all participants to be attentive and apply whatever learnt in their daily activities in the service.

The National President of NULGE, Comrade Ambali Akeem who was represented by the National auditor Comrade Akeem Bello charged other state chalpters to ulate Osun State and organise capacity building workshops.

He charged all participants to remain resolute and productive while in active service.

The State President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees,Dr Kehinde Ogungbangbe who was represented by his deputy,Comrade Iyabo Olanrewaju appreciated the state government for the good gesture, promised the state Government that workers in the state will always support programmes and policies of the state government aimed at making life bearable to them all.

The Director-General of Administrative Staff College of Nigeria where the workshop held Dr Cecilia Gayya (mini) while welcoming local Government Workers from Osun state stated that the workshop is to improve leadership and labour-management relations for optimal productivity in local governance.

The Director-General emphasized the importance of effective leadership and strong labor-management relations in creating harmonious and efficient workplaces.

The Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress,Osun State Chapter Comrade Arapasopo Christopher Abimbola applauded the state Government for approving the workshop and charged the participants to reciprocate the good gesture of the state government by working effectively and efficiently in their various stations.

Comrade Arapasopo also seize the medium to appeal to the state government on immediate commencement of the newly approved National Minimum wage in the state

Osun State Nulge Treasurer, Comrade Tope Adekunle who also gave a welcome address described the state Governor as worker-friendly saluted the Governor for giving regular attention to workers affairs.

While delivering his lecture ,Mr Olutunde Eniayejuni posited that Managing labour relations requires understanding key actors, their focus, disputes, sanctions, management requirements, and effective strategies.

According to him,Labour relations involves working conditions, employment security, grievances, production, safety, social security, and remuneration.

He therefore recommended Collective bargaining and joint consultation as crucial tool between employers and the employees in order to sustain harmonial relationship in any organisation.

Mr Olarewaju Ladipo in his own lecture on retirement Plans stated that retirement brings challenges that require planning and adjustment and the key concerns include accommodation, income, daily routine, socialization, lifestyle, children’s education, and family demands.

He therefore advised retirees to evaluate living arrangements, plan for reduced income, establish a new daily routine, build new friendships, adapt to a realistic lifestyle, and plan for children’s education.
