Osun Finance Commissioner Charges LG Directors and Auditors to Prioritize Adequate Financial Reporting.

Osun State Government has charged the Directors of Finance and Internal Auditors in the local government service to prioritize adequate reporting of financial activities in the local level to enhance transparency,probity and accountability.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Sola Ogungbile, who represented the State Governor,Senator Ademola Adeleke at the opening ceremony of A Day Stakeholders Meeting at the Local Government Service Commission Hall said ‘ the government has belief that what CHAMS can do, you can do it better’.

He further charged them to hold on to the trust reposed on them and be efficient and competent in their professional callings with a view to making the State to continue to be the best in proper financial reporting and accountability throughout the country.

In his welcome address,the Auditor- General for the Local Government, Mr Isiaq Oyewole Awotunde said ‘Osun State is leading in the area of adequate financial reporting activities’.

He called on the participants to further maintain the status quo.

Awotunde expressed his gratitude to the Governor, Commissioner for Finance, Permanent Secretaries and all the participants for their cooperation in the past and hope for better synergy for improvement in financial reporting.

In his own remarks ,the State Statistician General, Sooko Yemi Ijidele commended the present administration for sustaining programme of the previous administration, which he said was as a result of good leadership traits from our indefatigable Governor Ademola Adeleke.

He further enjoined the participants to strengthen the data analysis at the local government to serve as instrument for budget preparation and budget support for the projects.

The Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Modupe Irelewuyi charged the participants at the workshop to be abreast of new development in our financial reporting system.

She enjoined them that they needed to make use of the opportunity and skills acquired for a good successful job at their various local governments and assured them that the commission would do the needful assistance for the officers to succeed.

The Deputy Auditor General Administration for the State, Mr Abimbola Alalade emphasised that five models financial reporting is no longer analogue based but digital,so,he encouraged all the financial experts on the workshop to work in line with the digital age.

Responding on behalf of the participants, the chairman forum of Directors of Finance, Comrade Olaoye Sunday promised that they would do their best to make sure the financial reporting is always ready to time.

Likewise, the chairman forum of Internal Auditors, Comrade Lateef Olaiya charged his colleagues to work in collaboration with the directors of finance for the success of adequate financial reporting.

Also present at the workshop are: Deputy Auditor General (Operation), Mr Samuel Tola, Director Quality Assurance, Mr Siyanbola Lanre, Director Final Account, Mrs Olaoye Olufunke, Director School, Mrs Nafiu Odunola, Director Special Investigation and Monitoring, Comrade Adekola Adebowale and many other dignitaries.

The Workshop was organised by the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government in Collaboration with the State Project Manager, System State Government Financial Management Information System(SIFMIS.)Mr Oginni Gabriel and Local Project Manager,Mr Olanrewaju
