Minister Pledges Collaboration With C-ISOWN

A new page was opened in the history of the Chattered Institute of Social Work Practitioners of Nigeria (C-ISOWN) on Friday 13th October 2023 during a courtesy visit to the Hon Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in her office.
Earlier, the team led by Chief Efem Iyeme,who represented the President of the Institute,had congratulated the Minister on her appointment to the exalted office of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He highlighted the various activities being undertaken by the Institute as well as supported projects by donor agencies including USAID via the Engender Health, Nigeria and the right place of Social Work in the emerging situations in the country given the enormous responsibilities on the shoulders of the ministry occasioned by contemporary social indices.
Accordingly, he called for a robust collaboration with the Institute in order to ensure best practice and enhance quality service delivery with the ministry as a positive reference point. He added, the Charter status places enormous statutory responsibilities on the Institute in areas of registration and licensing of Social Workers among others.
While responding, the Hon Minister, Dr (Mrs) Beta Edu,appreciated the Institute for her efforts at ensuring standard practice of Social Work in the country in order to have a well structured profession as obtained in other developed climes. She charged the Institute to closely work on the data base of Social Workers to strengthen meaningful interventions from the ministry.
She promised her support to engender a reliable and working collaboration with Institute for standard practice.
On the visiting team were Chief ( (Dr) Efem Iyeme, Dr (Mrs) Kemi Ottun,Protem Registrar, Dr Kabir Atta, Country Representative, Engender Health, Nigeria & Country Project Manager (MSSFPO) and Yakub Oni, SW Project Director.
