Chairman,Governing board of National Centre for Technology Management,Hon (Sir) Adewale Haastrup has admonished Participanrs at The on going Two-day Management Forum held at the Centre of the agency in Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile -Ife to embrace Science,Technology and Innovation in order to enhance grassroots development
Hon Haastrup stated this while delivering his opening remarks at the event on the theme :The Roles of Science Technology and Innovation in Development at the Grassroots.
In His speech,he reiterated that the forum is designed to provide a platform for science technoocrats to interface on topical issues in Science, technology and innovation for sustainable development.
The Overseeing Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the agency,Dr John Akintayo Omomakinde in his welcome address, stated that the agency is designed to beam searchlight in Science Technology and innovation (STI) as a panacea to the issue of under development at the grassroots.
Professor Willie Siyanbola while delivering his virtual lecture, alluded to the fact that poverty and hunger have hindered National Development coupled with lingering unemployment and massive infrastructural deficits among others
Commissioner for Budget and Economic planning,Professor Yinusa identified political will and influence as major factors for determining those policies that are implementable.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Gboyega Oyetola Dr Adebayo alluded to the fact that no matter how good or bad a policy is ,its implementation in the hands of Government officials will determine whether it will survive or not.
The PRO of the agency ,Mr Isaac Oluyi who anchored the programme took time to highlight some achivements of the agency since inception and efforts made by the agency in the creation of ministry of Science and technology in some states of the federation.
Participants were drawn from Kaduna, Ogun Ọsun and Oyo States
