Unidentified Hoodlums Set INEC Office on Fire in Ede

Some unknown boys have set the Independent National Electoral Commission at Iresi Ede in Ede South Local Government ablaze this morning.

The incident according to the night guard,Mr Mudasir Abubakr, started around 7am this morning.

The night guard said he saw three boys on a Bajaj motorcycle parked at the close range to the commission office who came down with loaves of bread and petrol.

The bread believed to have been soaked with petrol was used to set the office on fire.

The night guard alerted the Divisional police officer in charge of Ede South local government about the incident

The Divisional Police Officer who confirmed the incident went to the scene with his officers but the perpetrators had left the scene.

Men of fire fighters were later contacted to stopped the inferno from further extension.

According to the officer in charge of commission named withheld said all the sensitive equipments were not touched by the inferno.

Chairman Ede south local government, Honourable Kola salami on the spot assessment of the ugly incident said this is uncalled for in this present Democratic dispensation.

The council boss said the perpetrators will soon be brought to book.

Also, Nigeria Police Area commander,Mr Vanghan Omololu who came with his boys to the scene expressed his unhappiness on the ugly incident and promise to work tirelessly in fishing out the criminals and their sponsors.
